Yoga, because punching people is frowned upon.

Salka was born out of the passion and love two busy creatives had for yoga and their experience that the practice can positively transform all aspects of your life.

Founded on the principle of gratitude and the belief that yoga is for everyone.

Salka Yoga is one special side hustle, which has been nurtured whilst the two juggle yoga and their colourful day jobs. Emma helps run one of Scotland’s top creative agencies, WIRE, and claims the company’s flexible and supportive culture has been pivotal in the building of Salka. Borja sets his own hours as a visual artist and film maker and, has a small production company and voice over studio in Merchant City.

Co-founder Emma says:

“For us, yoga isn’t about fancy poses or how many headstands you can do. We believe yoga is about the shape of your life. It’s how you treat people every day. It’s how you treat yourself.

“We teach from the heart and our passion for our subject always shines through. It’s been amazing to see our students grow, including their curiosity for yoga. The biggest compliment, and ultimately why we introduced Salka, is when we inspire our students to want to learn more.

“Borja and I are so excited to be taking Salka into a new space, especially such a historical fixture as the Argyll Arcade. We couldn’t have done this without the support of BAaD owner Norrie Innes who got behind our project and made it possible for yoga to reach many more people.”

We provide something different in our classes:

1. We plan and teach together.

Most yoga classes are taught by only one teacher. However at Salka (evening classes in particular) we bring two. We’re a partnership and students benefit from our different styles, our combined knowledge, extra eyes and additional set of hands adjusting. It’s a pretty special experience.

2. We are successful creatives who have allowed yoga to enhance our lives.

We know what it’s like juggling the stresses of the real world. Borja runs his own film company and I work for one of Scotland’s most successful communications agencies. We’ve worked in fast paced, high pressured environments in London, Sydney and Barcelona and have developed strategies to thrive and minimise stress.

Our classes are always accessible and we provide easy to follow tips which students can take home to adopt healthy habits and embrace a balanced lifestyle.

3. We’ve been working with young and mature students for 15+ years.

Both Borja and myself are active mentors within our industries. We have been sharing our knowledge and insights with people for many years, running workshops and training in our areas of expertise as well as giving talks at colleges and universities. We have a love of teaching, we bring energy and passion into everything we do. Our classes are vibrant, fun and informative, just like us.
